K-12 Lesson Plans

Lesson plans are correlated to the National Science Education Standards (as well as Florida State Sunshine Standards) and contain instructions for the teacher on conducting the activities, a scripted presentation (containing background information for the teacher) that accompanies the lesson plan, and student activities for reinforcement (including experiential activities, an e-learning module, and accompanying student handouts).

Biodiversity, Invasive Species, and Plant Biosecurity (Grades 9-12)

This lesson plan has been recently updated. It focuses on biodiversity, how invasive species affect biodiversity, who is involved in detecting invasive species, and plant biosecurity. It also features other plant biosecurity issues such as those that affect our food supply, the USDA Select Agents and Toxins list, and agroterrorism events of the last century.
