Preparation of Chapters
Before 1999, chapters were written by graduate students in an insect ecology course at the University of Florida, except for two chapters prepared by graduate students at University of Bergen, Norway. The editor and two student referees reviewed each chapter. Authors revised and resubmitted their chapters, which were then either accepted or returned for further revision. Chapters were limited to 1,500 words, including a brief abstract.
Now chapters are solicited from anyone interested in researching an insect record and lengthier chapters are permitted. What is required is good scholarship and a willingness to augment or improve the content of the Book of Insect Records.
