Pelecinus polyturator (Drury)
(Insecta: Hymenoptera: Pelecinidae)
Pelecinus polyturator are endoparasitoids of soil-dwelling beetle larvae, particularly white grubs (Phyllophaga spp.).
Adults exhibit sexual dimorphism: Females, at 51 to 62 mm in length, are about four times longer than males. Their distinct, narrow abdomen is about five times as long as the rest of their body. Hind wings measure about one-third the length of the forewings.
Adults feed on plant nectar. Females reproduce by parthenogenesis, or reproduction from unfertilized eggs.
Pelecinus polyturator is commonly found in Florida.
