Definition:
Pronunciation of names: Species names, as well as names of genera and families, are Latin. Ideally, they should be pronounced as Latin. If you have not studied Latin, but you can speak Spanish, Italian, or Portuguese, then your pronunciation following the rules of those languages will be close to Latin. If you speak only English, your pronunciation of the names will be much further from Latin, but you will have plenty of company because few English-speaking biologists use Latin pronunciation of the names, even if they have learned Latin.
