Chemical Tutorial

Insects and nematodes may become major problems due to the lack of an effective biological control system. University of Florida scientists have developed such a system for mole crickets, using biological controls along with various cultural methods. These methods, in combination with the proper use of pesticides, may limit mole cricket damage and significantly reduce the cost of managing turfgrass. In Florida alone, just the cost of pesticides to control mole crickets is estimated at tens of millions per year.

Unlike biological controls, a chemical control system is energy intensive. This short tutorial will provide basic information on limiting energy use in chemical control systems. Files on calibration are made available in the tutorial for those users interested in saving energy, money, and the environment.
