You have keyed down to the four Gryllotalpa species of mole crickets found in North America. At present, these four species occur in separated parts of the USA: the knife mole cricket along the US border with Mexico; the prairie mole cricket in prairie areas of IL, KS, MO, MS, and OK; the European mole cricket in MA, NJ, NY, and PA; and the oriental mole cricket in HI. You are unlikely to find one of them in some area from which it is not already reported. Click on the name of one of these species to go to a file describing it in more detail, or continue with the key to be sure of its identification.
