Research

Professor Liburd currently works in the Entomology and Nematology Department, University of Florida. Dr. Liburd does research in horticultural entomology, plant protection and agricultural entomology. He is Research Leader in the Fruit and Vegetable Entomology Laboratory. His research focuses on organic agriculture and developing pest management programs for crops grown using organic principles. Research areas include using cultural techniques and biological control to manage key insect pests of vegetables (cucurbits and cruciferous crops). He also studies monitoring techniques, insect ecology and the compatibility of biorational pesticides and natural enemies in berry crops including blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and grapes.
