Dr. Elena Rhodes

Dr. Rhodes earned her Bachelor’s degree in biology from New College of Florida in 2003 and both her Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in entomology from the University of Florida in 2005 and 2010 respectively. Now a Biological Scientist, she specializes in integrated pest management in small fruit and vegetable crops. Her current major project is IPM of insect pests in chickpea. Major past projects include the management of yellow margined leaf beetle, Microtheca ochroloma Stål, in cole crops, spotted wing drosophila, Drosophla suzukii (Matsumura), blueberry gall midge, Dasineura oxycoccana (Johnson), and flower thrips, Frankliniella spp., in blueberries, and the management of twospotted spider mites, Tetranychus urticae Koch, in strawberries. She also serves as lab manager.
