Florida: Frequent.
Habitat: Hammocks and pinelands.
Description:
Epiphytic; grows to 10-30 cm (4-12 in.) tall (20-40 cm [8-16 in.] when
flowering); plants densely clustered; thin, leathery, grayish leaves
(15-30 per plant); simple flower spike or with 1-5 side branches; pink
to red floral bracts with flowers 2.5 cm (1 in.) long (5-20 per plant);
seed capsules up to 3 cm (1 1/8 in.) long.
