This species is known only from two isolated lava flows in New Mexico. The holotype comes from El Malpais National Monument, Cibola County (upper left dot). The other lava flow is in Valley of Fires State Park, Lincoln County. The two known localities are about 130 miles apart and are not connected by any lava flows visible on Google Earth.
