Gryllus integer

composite map for Gryllus integer and Gryllus armatus
Composite map showing distribution for G. integer (black dots), G. armatus (blue dots), and a possible zone of hybridization (red dots).

In the Four Corners region of Utah, Colorado, and Arizona, G. integer coexists with G. armatus (red circles). Several specimens that were collected in this area had songs that sounded like G. armatus but had DNA that matched G. integer, suggesting that the two species may be hybridizing in this area. Weissman and Gray 2019 gave arbitrary priority to the DNA and called such specimens G. integer.
