Dr. Tesfamariam Mengistu
Research
A major area of emphasis in Dr. Mengistu’s research program is on molecular systematics and biological control with the goal of integrating basic and applied science to find efficient nematode management strategies.
Molecular Systematics
Dr. Mengistu’s research in the area of molecular systematics is to develop molecular tools for identifying major plant-parasitic nematodes occurring in Florida such as root-knot, lesion, sting, and lance nematodes.
Biological Control
Dr. Mengistu’s research on biological control is focused on the use of molecular tools to identify and understand soil health in relation to soil supressiveness and soil antagonistic potential.
