Welsh Honey Judge Program

Next Training: March 8th and 9th, 2019

The Welsh Honey Judge (WHJ) Program is a training and certification program for honey show judges in the time-honored tradition of the Welsh system from the United Kingdom. The Welsh training is the most stringent of its kind in the world for aspiring honey judges.

There are three levels in the WHJ Program: 

  1. Welsh Honey Judge Candidate
  2. Welsh Honey Judge
  3. Senior Welsh Honey Judge

Program Requirements by Level

Welsh Honey Judge Candidate Requirements (Level 1)

  1. Participate in introductory WHJ training.

Welsh Honey Judge Requirements (Level 2)

  1. Achieve the level of WHJ Candidate.
  2. Steward three honey shows under three different WHJs.
  3. Earn 50 exhibiting points by showing items in honey shows.
  4. Develop a WHJ Portfolio of Evidence.
  5. Assemble and present a Judging Kit.
  6. Take and pass the WHJ Final Examination.

Senior Welsh Honey Judge Requirements (Level 2)

  1. Achieve the level of WHJ.
  2. Participate in advanced WHJ training.
  3. Judge three honey shows under or alongside three different WHJs.
  4. Earn 75 exhibiting points by showing items in honey shows.
  5. Develop a Senior WHJ Portfolio of Evidence.
  6. Critique five personal exhibits.
  7. Take and pass the Senior WHJ Final Examination.
