half-winged conehead
Belocephalus subapterus
The dotted white line is the approximate line of separation between two types of male subgenital plate. The mid-peninsula dash in the line is about 16 km north of Frostproof, Florida, where intergrades between the two types have been found. The dash at the south end of the line indicatates an ecological barrier between coastal dune populations with typical subgenital plates and pinewood populations with hebardi-type plates.
