Regional Responsibilities
- Responsible for assisting in adminstering the SPDN regional center, housed at the
University of Florida, Gainesville. Land grant university representatives from
the following states and/or U.S. territories are members of the SPDN: Alabama,
Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina,
South Carolina, Puerto Rico, Tennessee, Texas, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and
Virginia. The SPDN is one of 5 regions within the National Plant Diagnostic Network (NPDN).

Extension
- Extension program focuses on providing local, regional, and national
support for primarily arthropod and plant pathology invasive species
educational efforts in support of the SPDN
and NPDN First Detector training program.
- Delivery of extension content occurs through traditional fact sheets,
booklets, UF/IFAS Featured Creatures, UF/IFAS EDIS, and web-based eLearning
modules.
