Welcome to the Insect ID Lab at the University of Florida! We are located in the Entomology and Nematology Department on the University of Florida’s main campus in Gainesville, FL.

Whether you’re a pest control professional, Extension agent, home gardener, or simply a resident wanting to identify a bug in your home, you have found the right resource. Capture your specimen(s), package them as instructed, complete the needed paperwork, and send it off for identification. We can also provide tentative diagnostic services via email, but cannot guarantee accuracy of photo identification.

The Insect ID Lab’s mission is to provide Floridians with accurate, timely, and informative insect and arthropod identification services.
